It would be real helpful to have this feature. We also sell sports equipment and need to do stocking orders. A record of the years sales would be awsume

I feel that this item is critical for any company to operate. The items actually sold should be accessible data.
Licensors require you to tell them what is sold, so they can calculate the rates, not just the total dollar amount of an invoice.
Some Federal reporting requirements ask about sales per product type.
Besides those required needs, i often find it very useful to see what the customers are ordering. I use that data for a variety of business analysis needs. The products being purchased are the core of the analysis about the products to promote, stock, etc. The products sold, product category, and customer type fields combined are the basis for most analysis models - IMHO
We have a few corporate customers that we provide reports on what items we sold to their branches based on products purchased.
I have also had audits before where that data is required - you cannot just hand them invoices.
I recommend a report that contains ALL data for any business requirement. No invoice data should be restricted except credit card numbers. The export should include every field associated with the invoice, including fields like all customer fields, shipping, every product field, personalization details, notes, etc - every single field that appears. If a field gets added later - please add it to the last column and never reorder columns.
If the developers pick this up, I can share exports from the various systems I work with and outline the pros and cons of each method.
